How to save videos on iPhone: the complete guide
Saving a video on an iPhone confuses a lot of people the first time, because downloads don't go to Photos. This guide shows exactly where they go and how to get them into your camera roll, using nothing but Safari and ClipNest.
Step 1: Download the video in Safari
- Copy the video link from the app you're watching in (for example Share → Copy link in TikTok or Instagram).
- Open Safari and go to the ClipNest home page.
- Paste the link, pick a quality and tap Download.
- Safari asks whether you want to download the file. Tap Download.
A small blue arrow appears next to the address bar while the file downloads.
Step 2: Find it in the Files app
Safari saves downloads to Files → On My iPhone → Downloads (or iCloud Drive → Downloads if you changed the setting). Tap the blue arrow in Safari and then the file to open it directly.
Step 3: Move it to Photos
- Open the video in Files.
- Tap the Share button.
- Choose Save Video.
The video now appears in your Photos library, ready for editing or sharing.
Common problems and fixes
"The download doesn't start." Make sure you're using Safari, not the in-app browser of Instagram or TikTok. In-app browsers often block downloads.
"The file plays without sound." Pick an MP4 size that includes audio. On the Reddit video downloader, sound is merged automatically.
"I can't find the Downloads folder." In Safari settings, check Downloads to see which location is selected.
"Storage is full." Choose 720p instead of 1080p. It looks almost the same on a phone and takes much less space.
Which downloader for which app?
- TikTok without watermark: TikTok downloader
- Instagram Reels: Instagram Reels downloader
- YouTube audio: YouTube to MP3 converter
A note on rights
Save videos you made or have permission to keep. Creators put a lot of work into their clips; credit them when you share.
